About the Opportunity

Driscoll’s is looking for a Senior Database Administrator with a real passion for innovation. The Senior DBA will possess strong SQL Server/MySQL-Aurora database maintenance, administration, operations, and design experience and skills. The Senior DBA will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, and security of clusters of Aurora instances within AWS and SQL Server on-premises. This position also requires strong experience with AWS RDS and working with the tools and processes inherent to a continuous delivery environment. The Database Administrator will work on all technical aspects of database development/administration projects providing technical guidance to internal and external data services teams, managers and internal customers. This role will be responsible for maintaining the performance of AWS cloud/on-premise database servers, optimizing database security, managing database applications and complete database administration globally.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, and security of clusters of Aurora instances within AWS and SQL Server on-premises
• Maintain configuration of Aurora instances including replication setup, parameter settings and identification of appropriate instance types/sizes. 
• Ensure performance, security, and availability of SQL Server/Aurora databases.
• Recommend and implement performance tuning solutions, such as indexing and partitioning 
• Interact with customers, resolving database engine and system/infrastructure-related issues and providing guidance on systems architecture, data model, and SQL query reviews as needed 
• Maintain Aurora database monitoring tools and alerts and develops new monitoring and alerting capabilities as needed
• Manage on-premises SQL servers and AWS RDS SQL/Aurora instance.
• Manage and administer AWS Redshift from Security, performance and backup/recovery perspective
• Serve as a mentor to team members by demonstrating alternate techniques, reviewing code, and strengthening skills
• Must be able to interact well with multiple priorities in an extremely dynamic environment, initiating necessary tasks and ensuring complete follow up

Candidate Profile

• 5+ Years’ Experience writing complex queries and understanding execution plan of the queries.
• 5+ Years’ Experience on Query Tunning
• 3+ Years’ Experience in resolving Deadlocks, Blockings after reviewing the queries and provide recommendations.
• Strong proficiency in supporting, administrating, troubleshooting, and tuning of SQL Server/ MySQL - Aurora databases with a demonstrated thorough knowledge of MySQL.
• AWS Databases like Aurora MySQL and DynamoDB
• SQL server with high availability and disaster recovery
• Database Recovery and DR
• Experience with Relational database concepts and NoSQL
• Experience with Jira
• Experience with database build process (Github)
